Details zum Event
Talk & Play is a free event, taking place every two months, that provides the opportunity to game enthusiasts, players and makers to meet in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment. Everybody’s welcome, regardless of their background and knowledge level: if you like games, we’ll make sure you have a good time! This is NOT an event only aimed at developers.
This edition of Talk & Play is sponsored by Codecks, a project management tool for game developers made in Berlin. Sign up now: https://www.codecks.io/
RSVP via Meetup is mandatory to attend the talks, due to limited seating capacity. Registration won’t be required to attend the event from 21:00 for the game showcase part.
HOW IT WORKS
The event is structured in two parts:
- TALK: Short game-related presentations + announcements from the community
- PLAY: All participants are welcome to exhibit games and projects they’ve made
Talks will be announced soon.
After the talks, we’ll have some „pitching“ sessions, during which a selection of game makers will briefly present their projects, that you’ll be able to play in the second part of the evening.
As usual, there will also be a section dedicated to short announcements from the community – get in touch to reserve a spot: http://berlingamescene.com/contact/
Have you made a game, or game-related project? Would you like to exhibit it during the second part of the event? Then fill this form: http://bit.ly/talkandplaygames – places are limited so the sooner you do it, the better.
Confirmed projects so far:
- 1-1 by Big Breakfast Collective
- A MAZE. 2019: The Game by Laura Brosi
- A Scottish WarStory by Mindty Kollektiv
- Clash of Coins by Zwi Zausch, Brett Ayo, Luca Langenberg, David Witzgall, Ruben Brockhaus
- Codecks by Codecks.io
- Corepox by Tom Larkworthy
- Drag Night by Flo
- Dubio by AJ Kolenc & Richard Boeser
- MOMENTUM by Marlene Käseberg & Zwi Zausch
- Morning Pages by Jan

All types of games (and game-related projects) are welcome, both digital and analog/physical, regardless of the current status (released, unreleased, prototype…) and the people behind it (company, students, hobbyists…).
Registrations will close a week before the event, or earlier if there are no more spots left. We can usually show around 20 projects, and we have a smaller separate room that works well for VR.
We can provide tables, chairs, power strips and internet connection – that means that all the rest (devices, chargers, controllers…) are up to you. If your project has sound, we recommend bringing a pair of headphones for the attendees to use, as the room gets quite noisy.
- 19:00 Doors
- 19:30 Talks
- 21:00 Game showcase & networking
- 23:00 The end
Our Safe Space Policy (http://berlingamescene.com/safe-space-policy/) encourages the behaviour at Talk & Play. We request that everyone who is affiliated with and participates to the event honours it.
Are you attending the event for the first time, or are you coming on your own? The Talk & Play Ambassadors will be there to assist you from 21:00, and answers any questions you have. The Ambassadors for this edition are Ali Reder, Isabel Paehr and Leith Ben Abdessalem – we will introduce them on stage just before the start of the showcase part.
Our event is documented by Julian Dasgupta (https://www.flickr.com/photos/12601747@N00/albums). For those who don’t want to be appear in any pictures or videos, we’re going to distribute some stickers at the door to wear and signal this.
The event is free to attend, but donations are welcome. We usually pass around a donation box after the talks.
